A new countryside learning initiative is taking shape.
The Farmer Project is being developed to offer structured, hands-on experiences that connect children and groups with farming, food, and the natural environment.
The project is designed to provide meaningful, practical engagement with rural life. Activities will focus on understanding where food comes from, how farms operate, and the role of the countryside in everyday life.
Each experience is being developed with care, ensuring it is both accessible and grounded in real working environments.
The Farmer Project is being created primarily for organised groups, with an initial focus on children and young people.
The Farmer Project aims to improve access to meaningful outdoor learning, helping children and groups build a clearer understanding of food, farming, and the natural environment. By offering practical, hands-on experiences, the project supports curiosity, confidence, and a stronger connection to the countryside.
We are in the early stages of building the project, shaping the activities, partnerships, and facilities needed to deliver a high-quality experience.
Support at this stage will help establish a programme that is sustainable, inclusive, and able to grow over time.
The Farmer Project is currently seeking support to help bring the first phase to life.
